 The properties of marriage are unity and indisollubility. By unity we mean that the husband has only one wife and the wife has only one husband. Marriage can take place only between one man and one woman.  By in dis solubility, we mean that the contract of marriage cannot be dissolved at will or with the consent of the contracting partners but only through the death of one of the parties. The basis of the bond of  indissoluble unity between husband and wife is that Jesus Christ himself began this symbolic representation of his union with the church and the grace is showered upon the spouses in marriage.  The Christian marriage must be as indissoluble as the love between Christ and his church.
