African culture

The African traditional society according to Metala, Ajan Clinton is a homogeneous and close one with its unique characteristics features that set if apart from other cultures of the world. Some of their beliefs and practices like caste system and killing of twins and abinos, burying of chiefs with slaves, etc and certain practices against women and widows appear to be evil in the contemporary society and therefore, need to be sermonised against so as to revive them in the light of Superior religion like Christianity.     However, the culture of Africa is varied and manifold consisting of a mixture of countries with various tribes that each has their own unique characteristics from the continent of Africa. African culture is expressed in its arts and crafts, folklore and religion, clothing, music and languages.

Hell and the consequences of sin

As with many other indispensable Christian claims—the Trinity, for example—the doctrine of Christ’s descent into hell is a careful theologi cal extrapolation from the biblical narratives. The single slender thread of  “evidence” is found in 1Peter 3:19-20 and 4:6,where we learn that the cru- cified Christ“ went and  preached to the spirits in prison, who formerly did not obey, when God’s patience waited in the day of Noah,” so that“ the gospel was preached even to the dead.” Almost from the beginning, the earliest Christians began to link these claims with many other biblical affirmations. The Psalmist exults in the as-surance, for example, that“If I make my bed in Sheol, thou art there” (139:8).So do we read in Matthew16:18 of Christ’s remarkable assurance to Peter that his confession of faith (“Thou art the Christ”) will become the foundation stone of the church, and that“ the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. ”The Old Testament Sheol and the Ne...

The Bible does not specifies any prohibition against sex between unmarried people, but some Bible passages may be relevant.    Sexual morality is made in about twenty five passages in the new testament. The etymology of the word translated as"sexual immorality, unchastity or fornication is often understood as sex between unmarried people, but in the Bible it's a translation of porneia and refers to any sexual immorality.

The mystery of death.

All of us know that we must die. But many of us delude ourselves by imagining that death is far off. It is almost as if we think that death will never come.  Job tells us that life is short. Remember that any mortal, born of a woman few of days and few of trouble, comes up like a flower and withers, remember again when Job said " my days are shifter than a runner, they flew away, they see no good " Some people are reluctant to think about the shortness of life and as a consequence are unpreparke d to die.As we read in the Bible that we must all die, we're like water spilled on the ground, vwe can't be gathered up. Let us also remember that Christ submitted to a cruel and humiliating death in order to obtain grace of a good death for us. This being the reason why he gives us so many calls, so many inspirations and warnings, is that at our last moment we may have the grace to die in his love.  If you are a Christian believe that you must die, that there's an eternit...

Sexual regulations

The properties of marriage are unity and indisollubility. By unity we mean that the husband has only one wife and the wife has only one husband. Marriage can take place only between one man and one woman.  By in dis solubility, we mean that the contract of marriage cannot be dissolved at will or with the consent of the contracting partners but only through the death of one of the parties. The basis of the bond of  indissoluble unity between husband and wife is that Jesus Christ himself began this symbolic representation of his union with the church and the grace is showered upon the spouses in marriage.  The Christian marriage must be as indissoluble as the love between Christ and his church. This union is so profound that only death can dissolve it. The goods and properties of marriage as taught by St  Augustine are still relevant today in the church. The presence of conscupiscence in marriage of which St Augustine has spoken Paraphraser Modes: Standard The gr...

The ethics of sexuality for the youths.

Patristic views on sexuality. The growth in the understanding of the church of human sexuality has been directed by an awareness of fundamental truths about human nature and destiny which are grounded in the holy scripture, proclaimed by the Magisterium and reform by theological traditions. To understand the teachings on human sexuality by the fathers of the church, a person should know very well about the heretic movements and teachings prevalent during the period which failed to appreciate the basic goodness of human sexuality.
